What is this critter with Big Bird called?
Sound it out slowly. How would you spell it?
My whole life he’s been the Snuffaluffagus. ALL Fs, mo fo. ALL Fs!!!! Well, wasn’t I horrified when I found out he’s the Snuffleupagus. WHAT THE HELL IS THAT??? It’s a travesty, that’s what it is. There ain’t no Ps in his name. That’s just wrong.
He will forever in my heart be the Snuffaluffagus. Period.
Okay, that was a weird post.
It was just one of those things where I’m like…wha??? Wha??? P? Really? Yeah, I’m going to shut up now.
HUGS from a fruitcake!

I totally figured from the title that this had to do with the recent Elmo scandal.
Recent Elmo scandal??? I have not heard of an Elmo scandal. I’m almost afraid to ask!
Apparently the voice of Elmo was dating a 16 year old boy.
Oh my God…that is a riot!!! Haven’t voices (think Geico lizard voice guy) learned that when they behave badly, people freak out? Especially, when they date jail bait??? Naughty!!!!
I don’t remember that one… Hmmm. Hope your getting your kitchen counter tops changed soon.
The SnuFFaluFFagus only made rare appearances. He was Big Bird’s friend and it was so cool when he’d show up because it didn’t happen often.
As for the counters, the guy from the distributors is coming out tomorrow to check it out. Keep your fingers crossed. The first guy thought they should definitely be replaced, but the guy tomorrow is the final word. Please God let him see what a mess they are and replace them.
I never knew about this odd SS character. I’ll cross my fingers for new counters!
He was awesome!
Check him out.

Aww, I can understand how the kid in you feels!
I like your spelling better.
Thank you!!! I feel betrayed by a P. I guess most guys have felt that way before. KIDDING!! Dang, I can be nasty, even in an innocent post.
Lol, with you, there’s no such thing as an innocent post.
but..but..i am the picture of innocense..4 3/4 pounds of fluffy innocense..wait..did i just describe elmo..crap…
Yep, you and Elmo are in league with one another!!!
Troublemakers!!
I just can’t help myself…
tickle me elmo…really…
lilly
I KNOW!!!!
You’ve got to write them like you feel them!
Exactly!! Hence my silly post.
Thanks for visiting, Hawkruh!
Nice to meet’cha!
I once had a similar mind shattering moment when I learned that the words to Winter Wonderland are actually, “In the meadow we can build a snowman…and pretend that he is Parson Brown.” I always thought it was, “In the meadow we can build a snowman, and pretend that he is possum brown.” I know, why would anyone pretend a snowman is possum brown? No matter. That day rocked my world.
I like a possum brown!!!! I vote that your words should be the right ones.
Who even knows who Parson Brown is anyway? And opossums are adorable.
Not that I want anyone else to have childhood memories shattered, but I’m glad you understand the world rocking something like that can be!
You had it right the whole time. SOmebody just gave you bad info. He was always my favorite character.
I soooo wish it was bad info. When I was told about it I looked it up at Sesame Street and it’s with a P. Total suck. He was one of my favorites too!
http://www.sesamestreet.org/muppets/mr-snuffleupagus
I don’t care what it says. I am sticking to what I heard. Hmmph!
Good for you! I’m going to do the same thing. It’s all Fs. Period. End of discussion.
All right. Now we are a club of 2!
We rule cause we do it OUR way. No Ps dammit!
Yes we do, and I like it!
Jodi, I am so sorry ol’ Snuffy has you upset.Take a deep breath.
I know. It’s not nice for Snuffy to make me sad!
You just managed to break my heart–like you, I thought Mr. S was spelled with a bunch of Fs…next I suppose you’re going to tell me that Bert and Ernie are more than just best friends, best friends who have sleep-overs and tickle each other and wrestle and spend all of their time together! I don’t want to know! Let me keep my head buried in the sand a while longer, please. Thank you very much from a woman who still sings ‘Walking in our winter underwear’ in the possum brown song!
I’m horrible! I should have kept my dark knowledge to myself!
Bert and Ernie…tee hee hee…they do seem rather chummy. But I still believe that men (puppets) can cuddle and not be, well…you know.
I so love that Winter Wonderland has both brown possums and winter underwear. I’m quite certain those are the correct lyrics, dammit!!
That’s my story and I’m stickin’ to it!
I knew it was Snuffleupagus!! I CAN, however, hear my own versions of almost any song whenever I feel like it
Ask me some time what I think the lyrics are to “Hair of the Dog” by Nazarath ( I tried that 8 times and still am not sure that’s spelled right!)
It’s just wrong, I tells ya! Wrong! NO Ps!!!!
Oh gosh, I can’t even imagine trying to get those lyrics right. I, like you, sing my own dang versions. To heck with what they are supposed to be! As for spelling Nazareth, I have NO clue either! My spelling is a lucky guess.
I have great sympathy with you. It’s hard to have illusions shattered. My hearing would probably have let me down too as a child but I don’t remember that far back. I know that Israelites by Desmond Decker allowed me to intersperse whatever I thought from moment to moment because I couldn’t understand what he sang. It was great fun to see a version later with prompt cards showing ‘Me ears are alight’ which is what I’d always sung.
By the By, Bert n’ Ernie tell me they’re not that way inclined but have no problems with anyone who is.
I love singing songs MY way too! I don’t care what the lyrics are. I usually like mine better anyway.
As for Bert and Ernie, they are totally cool like that.
I remember in 1981, I went to Germany and watched Sesame Straße Was odd seeing these critters speaking German, Never seen the English version in this country
It would be odd seeing Big Bird speak in German!
Big Bird is kinda scary in English, for goodness sake!
Yeah, it’s not going to give kids nightmares at all(!) “Hello kids, I’m the Big Bird … you know the same thing you call the Thanksgiving meal mwahahahaha”
What the fuck IS Big Bird? A chicken? A big canary? Some mutant alien bird? It’s a wonder I didn’t have nightmares about him growing up!
It would certainly explain a lot about how disturbed you are HAHAHA
(kidding)
Sweetheart, no kidding necessary–we all know I’m disturbed!!!
XOXO
So very true
Remind me to kick you in the shin if we ever meet!
HAHA! Yes, I’m sure that would top of my list. “Hey Jodi, HI! Here’s my shin if you want to boot it” hehehe
I’ll wear my shit-kickers.
KIDDING!! Well….
You calling me a shit? Haha I resemble that remark.
Moi? Would I ever do such a thing??
I’m gonna have to admit that I did actually know that was his proper name, with the “P”. But I do remember discovering that myself probably 20 years ago or so and thinking the same thing as you… what?!?!?!?
Isn’t it just WRONG???!!!! It should be all Fs, dammit!!
Its a show i never liked, sorry.
I loved it as a kid, but watching it as an adult is painful!
However the name is spelled, the real important question is, “Can tell me how to get, how to get to Sesame Street?”
Go down the block (B is for Block). Turn right onto Crazy Lane (C is for Crazy). Turn left onto Dimwit Circle (D is for Dimwit) and you’re there!
Snuffaluffagus or Snuffleupagus I don’t care how it is spelt he is cute and unlike Big Bird not freaky yes I find Big Bird freaky and scary although I don’t mind baby Big Bird…………..
Big Bird is TOTALLY freaky!!!! I’m there with you. And yes, Snuffy is cute as all get out.
OMG! You are going to think this is funny, but my friends used to call my hubby the Snuffleupagus because he’s not big on coming to parties and things. And I thought it was Snuffaluffagus too! I had no idea there was a “p” in his name. My friends set me straight (I didn’t believe them), but my mom got me a Snuffleupagus puppet (yes, I am a giant kid), and, sure enough. It has a “P!” Crap! I still can’t bring myself to say it that way though. I’ll stick with “Snuffy” now. Only “f’s”.
Stupid P! There is NO P in Snuffaluffagus, dammit!!! I love that that is your friend’s nickname for the hubby. That is awesome.
I’m like you, from now on it’s Snuffy!
LOL.. now we had a good laugh on this one…. we agree there is no stupid P……
DAMN RIGHT! No P. No P. No P. (That is surprisingly hard to type 3 times!)
I agree, your spelling is correct. Poor CTW, they were spelling it wrong from day 1
Thank God for people like you who agree that Snuffy is ALL Fs, dammit!!! Merry Christmas!
Thank you so much for very nice blog, please stop on my blog solo sailing around the world
Nice to meet you! Thanks so much for stopping by.
