I am soooooooooooooooooooooo happy to tell you that my new cookbook is available as of this morning! Woo hoo!!!

Yay!!!!! Here it is!

For those of you who haven’t heard me talk about it before, here’s the blurb from the back of the book so that you know that it’s a cookbook with a rather different spin on cooking.  🙂

Whether you love to cook or would rather starve than spend time in a kitchen, Darn Good Eats: The Cookbook for Creative Chefs and Reluctant Cooks is for you!

Reluctant Cook and author Jodi Ambrose teamed up with her Creative Chef husband, Grant, to bring you a cookbook with an unusual twist. Darn Good Eats provides scrumptious recipes for both the kitchen aficionado and the bumbling cook. Pooling together all of their combined kitchen savvy, they’ve created a cookbook that applies to anyone and everyone.

Along with a list of must-have items for your kitchen, helpful measurement conversions, delightful personal anecdotes and a witty sense of humor, this cookbook delivers over 70 delectable and inspired recipes for both the kitchen novice and cooking expert. You no longer have to be a good cook to make great food.

So that it’s easy to navigate, the cookbook is split into two parts. The first part is for Creative Chefs who love, or at least like, to cook. It contains tantalizing recipes which range from simple to challenging and are bound to be crowd-pleasers. The second part is for people who prefer eating over cooking and find the kitchen to be more of a chore than a delight. The Reluctant Cook will now have a wonderful array of options for making “homemade” meals that (shhh…don’t tell) in some cases are far from homemade, but are still mouthwateringly delicious.

Whether you love or hate the kitchen, Darn Good Eats: The Cookbook for Creative Chefs and Reluctant Cooks has plenty of tasty recipes to please even the most discerning palate. We know that you’ll enjoy both the food and fun contained within this cookbook and we wish for you many happy and delicious meals.

I’ve published both a full-color interior version and a black & white interior version so that it’s affordable for everyone and if you want to get some as holiday presents you have a choice on which one to get. Both have the full-color cover.

As of right now, you can get them at Amazon as printed books. In the near future, they’ll be available for the Kindle and Nook, but formatting them (especially with bullets and numbered lists) is a NIGHTMARE and takes forever. You’d think that Kindle and Nook would have figured out how to properly format something so simple by now. Over the next couple of months, the black & white interior version will be available online at Barnes & Noble and other places, but you can get them at Amazon today.

Here’s the link to the black & white version on Amazon: CLICK HERE TOO!

I hope you guys love the cookbook! My hubby and I worked very hard to bring you the recipes that we love the most, with just a little bit of sass thrown in the mix. No worries though. For a change of pace there are no F-bombs in one of my books. 😉 This one is rated G.

Hugs!! Enjoy!!!

    • HOLY CRAP!!! You are awesome!!! Thank you so very much. I can’t tell you how much I appreciate it. That just warms my heart. 🙂 Oh, and just so you know, I’m about halfway done with the interview doc you sent me (thanks again for that!). All I’ve been doing the last 2 weeks is working the day job til my brain hurts and then editing proof after proof after proof of the cookbook. My mind is blurry I’ve read that 200 page book so many times! Words have ceased to make sense to me. 🙂 XOXOXO

      • I feel ya…much of the last 3 months was taken up by editing mine. Now its off to the publisher and going to go to beta reading soon…I’m happy to do it for you 🙂
Get that interview back and we’ll get you some more exposure…along with me bloggin about your launch first thing tomorrow, of course 🙂

        • Doesn’t editing drive you bonkers! I’d swear that every time it was edited by me and others that it was perfect, then I’d get another proof and find more stuff to fix. ARGH!!! 🙂 I’ll get the interview to you as soon as I can. I really appreciate the interview and the blogging exposure. It means so much to me. 🙂

          • I’m glad you’re so excited 🙂
Well, my book was picked up by an publisher, so I was working with an editor, but I had to rewrite a lot of stuff, in line with some suggestions she made. And it came out amazingly better. It was like, after she pointed some things out, the lights came on, and I was at it. I think the word she used that I’ll remember always was “WOW”. That felt good. But yeah, writing it the first time is one helluva lot easier than the second…or third…

            • I’m really proud of you!!! Yay!!! Being picked up by a publisher is awesome!! So happy for you. I’m glad your editor was helpful. Sometimes, getting that fresh set of eyes can really help. Let me know the moment it’s available and I’ll blog about it to everyone. 🙂 Hugs!

              • I was very lucky…it was the third one I submitted to. I had actually decided that if I was turned down by him, I’d do it indie…thanks for your kind words…it means a lot of me 🙂

  1. Yay, very cool!!! You must be super excited!! 🙂 I still don’t get why those people have trouble getting books on e-readers. Nowadays, everything’s done electronically so what the F! Not that it matters in this case, would rather have a paperback cookbook. 😀 😀

    • You know, I’m a paperback cookbook girl too. Everything else I get on either my Kindle or my Fire, but I always want a tangible cookbook. Something about turning the pages, perusing the recipes, sitting it on the counter and dripping goo all over them. A cookbook needs to look used! 🙂

I too can’t figure out why the digital people can’t figure out how to make formatting easy. I have to go through all 200 pages and re-do all the bulleted lists and numbered lists. I also have to reformat all the pictures and fonts and insert page breaks. And it STILL won’t look good! It makes me wanna pull my hair out! So, it’s definitely gonna take me a few weeks. 🙂 Hopefully, most people will be like us and like the hard copy better anyway. 🙂

      • Aw, I think most people will agree. Who wants their Nook/Kindle to get goo on it? Not that I want goo on an actual book either…I’m obsessed with keeping books clean and crease-free, lol. I wouldn’t stress too much about fixing it for e-readers. HARD copies are a must. 😀

          • Haha! So…I just ordered my copy! Perfect timing too because I was gonna buy something a few days ago, but the total wasn’t $25 meaning no free shipping. So I was like, dang, what else can I buy? Couldn’t think of anything til now…so great timing. Thanks! 😀

            • That freaking rocks!!!! Yay!!! I did the SAME thing with Amazon because that free shipping is awesome. I actually just became a prime member, so I don’t have to do the $25 thing anymore. I was spending tons of money to get up to $25 to save $4 on shipping. Good grief.

              Hope you love it!!! 🙂

              • Makes sense! Funny you mention Amazon Prime…today’s all about great timing because they were offering Amazon Prime trials today! How convenient! This is like the 5th time they offer me the trial. LOVE! Anyway, thanks, I’m sure I’ll love it! 😀

  2. Congratulations! You and your husband are me and my husband! This book has our names all over it (his in the culinary skill part, mine in the not-a-fan of cooking part). Sending a link to our sons, who will have the good sense to purchase the book for us for Christmas!

    • How freaking cool! Kindred spirits, I’m telling ya!!! 🙂 Isn’t it wonderful to have a man that cooks??? I’d be outta luck if he didn’t cook. I’d also probably be 15 pounds thinner. 😉 I hope your sons get it for you! I think you’ll love it. It’s got fun stories in it to go along with the recipes. Let me know what you think once you have it (hopefully). 🙂 Hugs!

  3. Congratulations!! That’s great. I’ll have to order one for me (The Reluctant Cook) and my mom (The Savvy Chef). She collects cookbooks and I know she’ll love this. And you had me at “Beer Battered Fish”….What’s better then that?

    • Thank you!!! Looks like you and I are two peas in a pod!!! Thank God for our savvy chefs, right? I really hope you love it. It’s a fun cookbook rather than just a listing of recipes (it has to have just a little sass-mouth in it!). 🙂 Please let me know what you think. I really hope you both love it. 😉 XOXO

  4. This will be perfect for me and my husband! I’m the foodie and he just wants to eat. He’d have a bowl of cereal for lunch while working form home and be perfectly happy. I’d take an hour break and spend at least half of that just creating an awesome lunch!

    • Yay!!! I’m so glad to hear that I’m not the only one in a marriage where one loves to cook and one would just eat cereal all day. I have a box of Honeycomb and a box of Cinnamon Toast Crunch calling my name right now. 🙂 I’m definitely the cereal eater in the family while my hubby is just like you. I WISH I loved cooking…I’ve tried, to no avail. I hope you love the cookbook. It’s got a bunch of great recipes and some fun stories in it too. Let me know what you think. 🙂 HUGS!

  5. Hi Jodi! Congrats on your success! I started a blog 6mo ago called “GlitzGirlzGlamourGuide” and now I’m working on this second blog and my cookbook! I was wondering if I could email with you and pick your brain a little on what direction to go for publication of “PrettyBitchesCanCookToo” or any helpful insight and advice 🙂

    • Thank you, Glitzy! 🙂 I’m so excited for you! Writing a cookbook is so much harder than people would ever imagine. No room for error in a recipe! 😉 I’d be happy to let you pick my brain (for what it’s worth!). 🙂 I’m heading out now but will be home later. Feel free to ask me any questions you have. 🙂 Great meeting you.

  6. G’day Jodi first of all many thanks for following The Pearl Kitchen. Hope you will enjoy the journey. And guess what? At the end of the journey you could be the lucky person to win a trip for two to Penang 😉 Secondly I’m so inspired by your cook book I just ordered a copy as my Christmas present to myself! One day The Pearl Kitchen will find its place in cosy kitchens around the world too 😉

    • Hey there, Eric! Oh my gosh, thank you for getting one of my cookbooks. I hope you love it. It’s a bit of an unusual concept for a cookbook, but so far the feedback I’ve gotten has been phenomenal. 🙂

Win a trip to Penang? Doesn’t that sound amazing! Count me in. 🙂

Also, it was my pleasure to follow your blog. I love seeing what other cookers are up to. I hope you have a great weekend and again, thanks for getting the cookbook. Enjoy the yummies in it.
