Happy almost 4th of July for my lovely American friends! I’m going to try and get at least 50 hours of sleep the next 4 days. That’s my goal and I’m sticking to it!
As for love and ham sammiches, I just had to share this with you.
The hubby, bless his heart, is helping me on my “watch what I eat but not really a diet” diet. Which means I don’t want to eat anything made with a quart of heavy whipping cream, 2 sticks of butter and a cup of oil. Not cooking that kind of food is hard for him, but I begged him to help a girl out.
So, last night I asked him to make me his Grant Sammich without bread. I know, I know…that does not qualify as a sandwich, but in my brain it does.
This is what he brought me:
How freaking cute is that!!??? That, my friends, is true love. π
Oh, and if you are watching what you eat and wanna make it, it’s just:
- 2 slices of super thin deli ham
- 1/2 a roma tomato diced finely
- A little bit of diced onion
- A tiny splat of Olive Oil mayo (very low fat and calorie for mayo)
- A medium splat of mustard
- 1/2 a black olive, sliced, for decoration
- Garnish (celery)
In total it’s about 65 calories and 2 grams of fat. Perfect little treat to satisfy the nibbles.

That is a tiny little meal, isn’t it? No need to worry though, dear friend. It was just a little afternoon snack before dinner. My tummy had the grumbles so I just wanted a few bites to tide me over. You are so sweet though. π Believe me, I’m not one for starvation! I like food too much. π Just trying to get off the few extra pounds I gained after quitting smoking. Good news is that it’s been 7 1/2 months without a single puff. Yay! π XOXO

Damn that’s awesome Jodi!!! Eventually, you will come to despise the smell of cigarettes and wish you had every cent back you ever gave to these tobacco companies. Stay smoke free!!

Thank you, dear. π I quit between the ages o 18-26 and unfortunately never lost the craving for them. I’m hoping this time I’ll eventually lose it. π I’m kicking ass and taking names so far, so I shall be smoke-free forever, dammit! π

I actually grabbed a crab cake. YUM!!!! Though a burger sounds good right about now. I woke up (6 hours too early) and hungry as fuck! π HUGS!

I love love love a big ole ham sandwich with 3 slices of Swiss, tons of tomato and onion, a tiny bit of lettuce, mayo and mustard on super fresh Rye. Dang, now I’m salivating. I want some NOW!! π Woke up hungry this morning. π

I did lick the plate, if that makes any difference. π Luckily, it was just a baby snack between meals. I wanted something to get rid of the tummy grumbles, but I wanted something healthy. And yeah, I’m so blessed that the hubby makes me my silly little sandwich (minus the bread) requests. He’s such a dear. He’d prefer to fix me Fettuccine Alfredo made with a quart of cream and a pound of cheese, but he doesn’t understand the concept of me needing my pants to fit! π I guess I’m blessed that my man doesn’t mind a little curve on a woman. It would be so much worse if he was trying to feed me dressing-free salads. I’d have to bury him in the backyard if he was like that. π HUGS right back at’cha!

I’m a bread lover too. I could live on the stuff! On the first day of my diet the hubby brought home bake-it-yourself rustic bread and poured a stick of butter over it when it came out of the oven. I about wept it smelled so good. I had one bite and then no more, but in truth I wanted to knock him unconscious and eat the whole loaf! Mmmm….bread…butter… π You have a great 4th too, sweetiepie! π

Love your approach to dieting…that’s how I roll too because damn it, if I want that Dr Pepper & handful of doritos I’m gonna (& need to) have it — otherwise risk binging on the whole bag!
How’s the 50 hrs of sleep in 4 days working out? I say that every weekend….yet here I am, out of bed in the 6:00am hour, enjoying coffee on the deck & catching up on my blog reads.

Exactly! If you don’t give in a little bit to the urge then it takes over your whole life! I can do with 5 Doritos. I don’t need a whole 1 pound bag (though I’d like it!). I especially like the crumbs in the bottom that are extra coated in cheese dust. YUM!!!
As for the sleep—so NOT working out my way! But I’m trying my hardest. HUGS! Hope you are having a great weekend. π
